This year Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on September 8th (Wednesday) and ends at sundown on September 10th, 2010 (Friday).
Even though we don’t believe in setting dates for the Lord’s return, we do pay special attention to the fact that He will come suddenly one day, and it could be near the Jewish New Year, or Rosh Hashanah. Because of that, we conduct a “Rapture Drill,” just in case this glorious event should take place during this season.
Rosh Hashanah is also known as “The Feast of Trumpets.” The sounding of the trumpet is a key element of the prophecy of the Rapture of the Church in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, and 1 Corinthians 15:52. It is also noteworthy that the Feasts of Israel are symbolic of major future events in Christianity.
What do we do during this exercise? We make sure we are spiritually ready and active – living for the Lord instead of for our own selfish interests. We share the Gospel with people we know who have not yet accepted Christ. And we purposely place Bibles, instructions about how to become a Christian and books about prophecy in conspicuous places.
For more about the significance of the Feasts of Israel, see our blog from last year called “Rapture Drill”.
So, will the Rapture take place on Rosh Hashanah? Again, we don’t believe in setting dates, and Jesus said plainly that we could not know exactly when He will return, and that it will be at a time that we don’t think it will happen (Matthew 24:42-44, Matthew 25:13). But we should always be ready. Why not practice readiness now? Besides that, we can confidently say that this Rosh Hashanah brings us one year closer to the Rapture, and the world conditions make us know that the End Times are near!

Hello Ron. Great post. I too have considered a “Rapture Drill” (though have not yet embarked on doing so) and do believe that September seems the most likely time for the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ. But as you say, it is not for us to know, or speculate, merely, were are to prepare for that glorious day. Take care and God bless!
Hi Ron,
I’m with you on not setting dates. I well remember the fellow back in the eighties who predicted that the rapture would happen on Rosh Hashanah in ’88. It didn”t, and he was exposed to the world as a man who denied God’s Word by claiming to know that which is hidden by God. He is almost surely a Christian, but he became misguided in that effort.
I would urge you to visit my website, and perhaps purchase a copy of my book. I would also be happy to mail you a copy free of charge if you would like. I’d need the pertinent address info. When I finish here, I’ll order a copy of yours.
Midnight Rising is not a book of sensationalist drivel, but a calm exposition of portions of the prophecies of Daniel and Ezekiel and John. In particular, it addresses the first beast of Rev. 13, and how we may determine his national origin. Thus we can discern the times and the seasons when we see a world-renowned peacemaker brokering a treaty between Israel and “many.”
Dr. Earl Radmacher wrote the Foreword for Midnight Rising, and shifted a view that he had held and taught for his entire Christian career on account of this small book. he read it in one sitting, as have many others.
I would be interested in engaging in a dialogue with you if you are likewise interested.
Thanks,
Bill Simpson
BTW, I should point out that there is another book with the same title on the market. It is a vampire/witchcraft novel. At first, I was horrified to find that it was out there, but I have come to realize what a brilliant stroke of genius by God it was, to place my book alongside this one. Those who seek her book may well find a refreshing alternative to such darkness as she presents in hers.
Yeah, it is also very interesting that Rosh Hashanah is the only Jewish Feast that begins on a “new moon” — meaning that no one knows exactly when the “new moon” comes in — give or take a day.
So - No Man will know the “day or the Hour” of Rosh Hashanah — and/ or that of the rapture.
I am not setting a date - either — I am just saying………. and Of course - we wouldn’t know the exact year — either — this year, next year, the year after ———— or maybe (Romans 11:35??) when the fulness of the gentiles comes in — of course, with G_D couldn’t that happen on Rosh Hashanah???? I bet it could.
